Biography
Dr. Hung Tran is the founder of GotIt!, a Silicon Valley based venture backed high tech startup developing an on demand platform for knowledge. GotIt! instantly connects a user with a question to a vetted expert for 10-minute chat session where the expert will interact with the user to help the user find the answer. The company has raised over $10 million from well known investors from Silicon Valley like Capricorn Investment Group, Intel Capital, Guy Kawasaki, etc. It has been also attracted top talents from tech giants like Google, Facebook, Oracle, etc. Dr. Tran founded GotIt! while working on his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Iowa where he did research on data mining and big data analytics. He also worked as a Visiting Professor for a year at the Department of Computer Science, the University of Iowa. Previously, Dr. Tran led an international collaboration among MIT, Rice University, Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, VASC, and the Vietnam Foundation to develop a nation wide OpenCourseWare program to serve millions of college students in Vietnam. Before that Dr. Tran worked as a software engineer developed the first Vietnamese distribution of Linux.

The Industry 4 is taking place at unprecedented speed. It has both positive and negative impacts on every economic and social aspect. One of the most important components of Industry 4 is AI. Big corporates and research institutions in developed countries are investing a lot of resources in this field, and amazing results have been achieved.
In Vietnam, universities, research institutes are showing great interests in the field of AI. One of the problems in the country, however, is that it takes so long from research to applications.
This talk mentions challenges in cooperation between research institutions and enterprises; it then proposes some solutions that can advance the efficiency of cooperation, benefiting all parties.
